SON OF GOD

Two curious eyes fixed
For a divine lamp to expose
The darkness on the top
Of the hill

His mind fills
The stories of grandma
His heart vibrating for a glance
He heard a sacred sound

Light foot placed
To the light
Compassion exposes all
He saw the mighty god in front

Shivering hands touched
Slowly... towards the hill
Those curious eyes shut
Forever

But grandma still fill her eyes
and said lonely he went.

പകരമേകാൻ നിന്റെ
പിടയുന്ന മിഴിയിലെ
കണ്ണുനീർ തുള്ളികൾ
പുകയുന്നു നെഞ്ചിലെ
നെരിപ്പോടിലിപ്പോഴും

കാലങ്ങൾ ഖാതങ്ങൾ
താണ്ടിനീങ്ങുമ്പോഴും
കൊതിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു നീ
തെളിനീരുറവപോൽ
ഇപ്പോഴും എൻ മനമൊന്നു
തേങ്ങുന്നുനിന്നിലേക്കിറങ്ങുവാൻ
മുഴുകാൻ ഒടുങ്ങുവാൻ
കൈകുമ്പിളിൽ കോരിയെടുക്കുവാൻ
ഇപ്പോഴും ശക്തനല്്ല ഞാൻ
ക്ഷമിക്കെന്ന വാക്കിനാൽ പോലും
തടുക്കാവതല്ല നിൻ
കണ്ണുനീർ തുള്ളിയെ

തലതാഴ്ത്തി  നിൽക്കുന്നു
നിൻമുന്പിൽ  ശിക്ഷിക്ക
യെൻ  തെറ്റിനെൻ
നിഷ്ക്രിയത്വത്തിനെൻ
ജീവചക്രം നിലക്കുന്ന
നാൾ  വരെ.

TELEPHONE CONVERSATION

wole Soyinka, a west African writer, was born in western Nigeria in 1934. He was educated at University College,Ibadan and at Leeds University England. His first play "The Invention" was produced at the Royal Court Theater in London in 1959.His other famous plays are "the Lion and the Jewel"(1959) and "the Road"(1965). He was the editor of a magazine called "Black Orpheus".he was awarded Nobel Prize for literature in 1986.Besides being a poet,he is also a playwright,actor and musician.

                                  The poem "telephone Conversation"  is a humorous satire on racial discrimination,revealing the Nigerian poet's sense of humor at its best. It is based on his own experience in London. He was then
